Virtual Internet's experience, infrastructure and vision have delivered a world-class product portfolio for business customers. This includes domain and email services, dedicated server solutions, managed services and e-commerce solutions. The ethos at Virtual Internet is to deliver exceptional customer service along with highly resilient hosting products. The company's strategic technology partners include the world's leading brands such as HP, Cisco, Microsoft, and Foundry.
Virtual Internet has invested heavily in its customer service charter which combines sophisticated systems, qualified technical support teams and round the clock monitoring. The company boasts thousands of critical web sites including many major financial and government institutions amongst its clients, plus tens of thousands of small to medium sized businesses and web design agencies.
Virtual Internet has always had a reputation for innovation in leading the domain and hosting market in the UK.
In 1999 Virtual Internet undertook a major marketing campaign with Sun Cobalt, introducing the UK's first affordable dedicated server solution for the SME. The company was the first UK public company to become an official ICANN accredited registrar in October 2000 giving it authority to directly register .com/net/org domains without third party intervention.
More recently, Virtual Internet revolutionised the shared hosting industry in Europe with the launch of its 'secure' packages. This range of packages has received recognition in the press and hosting industry by addressing the need for security and resilience of small business websites.
November 2001 saw the joint launch of Virtual Internet's Private Server in conjunction with Compaq and Ensim. This was the first Private Server solution in the UK to provides all the benefits of a dedicated server solution at substantially less cost.
In January 1999, Virtual Internet floated on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange, and in April 2000 it completed a $50 million fundraising and moved to the official list of the London Stock Exchange. In May 2003 VI was acquired by ActiveISP group creating one of Europe's largest and most experienced providers of business class hosting services.
Now in 2006, following a management buy out with members of staff and management teams, Virtual Internet has re-launched with its main focus on its Dedicated and Managed server customers.
Virtual Internet is one of the internet's success stories. Having negotiated the difficult 1999-2001 period it has emerged one of the leading specialists in the UK market. Many of the past stars in the hosting, internet access and telecom's market have since fallen or are struggling to meet their financial commitments. Virtual Internet continues to offer clients a level of financial security unmatched by its peers and competitors.
